Dedication by definition is the quality of being dedicated or committed to a task or purpose.
Melissa from Adventures of Frugal Mom has her word for 2017, Dedication! I love the idea of having a word for each year. Something to strive for! So I thought I would share with you my plan on dedicating to my marriage and husband. After 12 years of marriage we still have to work on things. Here are some of the ways I dedicate my time with him.
It is important to find a common ground with activities. Last year my husband and I discovered things we both enjoyed doing together.
1. He loves to fish. The fishing hole is a great place to swim. I purchased a few floats for myself and joined him many times. I would pack a picnic lunch with a great bottle of wine using this pack. We actually received this pack from my brother years ago. At first we were like when are we going to use this? Well guess what! Years later we found we love having it for picnic lunches! I bring a book and a blanket to lay out. We find a shaded spot to set up and relax. Him fishing and me reading. If you know anything about fishing you don’t want a lot of loud noise as it scares the fish away.
2. Last year we discovered we really enjoy Kayaking together! There is a great place in Saxaphaw that rents Kayak’s. One pick up location is just outside Pittsboro, which is perfect for us! We pack a picnic in our backpack and head up stream. There is a fun rope swing part of the way up and lot’s of rock formations to stop at. We had so much fun last year and plan to go again this year!
3. The town of Pittsboro holds a fun artisan and food event the first Sunday of each month. It’s call First Sunday. We love going to this. My husband has found a local artisan that makes soap he loves. We get drinks at the local bar and check out the fun shops. Since he works Saturday’s this is a fun thing for us to do on Sunday. We went in July last year and had so much fun. Between the corn hole competition, and live music we walked and enjoyed the day together.
I am excited to find an activity to add to this list in 2017!
What do you and your spouse, significate other do together?
