Steak Street Style Taco

I finally got B to eat ‘Mexican’ food!  His boss, who is from Mexico, introduced him to real mexican taco’s.  There is a restaurant close to the job site and they go all the time.  So I texted the boss and asked how he prepared taco’s at home.  I am sharing this with you in the hopes we can bring more non-taco lovers to our side.  First up, you will never buy taco seasoning again!  Second, forget ground beef!  Steak is where it’s at.

Thin sliced steak (like paper thin)
Green Onion
White Onion
Old Bay
Beer (optional)
Cilantro (optional)
Corn Tortilla Shells – Yellow for chips and White for Taco
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Canola Oil

You will need to marinade the steak, a day before if you can, minimum 2 hours.
Combine – Steak, 1/2 Lime, Old Bay (1 Tbsp), splash of beer
Then Chill
While the steak is marinating you can make the guacamole and chips.

Dice items and mix together in a bowl.
Take yellow corn tortilla shells and slice in to 1/4’s
Once the oil is hot, then fry your tortilla to make chips.  I waited until they turn a golden color.

When you take them out of the oil, sprinkle them with Salt.
Next dice up items for taco’s.

Dice – Radishes, Tomato, Green Onion, Lettuce
Tip – if the tortilla shells are bent in the package, then they will break when you try to flatten them. Now you are ready to grill your steak.  I always spray Pam so my meat won’t stick.
Place steak on a medium low heat, and the tortilla shell on the top rack to warm.
Now just build your taco how you like.

I prefer flour tortilla’s over the corn.
